Measuring the voltage of a battery charger

"Why measure the battery charger?"

As specialists in children's electric vehicles, we can help you find the right part in our shop for your problem. Knowing how to measure the voltage of your battery and then its charger will help you identify whether the problem is with the charger or the battery.

Equipment required:

To start with, you'll need a working voltmeter/multimeter with its cables that you can connect to the device: make sure that it displays, without having already connected it to the charger, around 0 volts.

Plug your charger into a socket :

Prise chargeur

Now connect the cables to the charger, putting the red right-hand cable at the end and the black left-hand cable at the side :

Mesure Volt d'un chargeur

If functional, your charger should then display a value greater than 12 V. A 24 V battery should of course display more than 24 V on its charger, and so on for each type of battery charger.

If your battery charger is working, but you're having trouble charging, the problem must surely be with the battery, which you can also test...
